To actively participate in the creation of a painting that is created just for you is an amazing experience!
Undertaking commissions for a work of art is not for the faint of heart. For the client and the artist there needs to be a level of trust beyond that of providing a product for a fee.
Because I create art from an intuitive place my approach has to satisfy me artistically and ultimately meld too with the client’s vision. Read the process below and see if it resonates with you.
A Commission
Requested: An Artist’s Interpretation of Fire.
Further dialogue: It is to be abstract, the client loves red, and charred elements. It is not to have any overall light colours, and the client wanted to feel the heat!
With time frame established and price accepted I was left to it. (My favourite way of working).
The Result

Acrylic, 30 x 60
Bold paint colours, with multiple layers of texture and glazing. There is depth and movement, quiet areas and active ones. And, lots of heat.
I’m thrilled to share the client was indeed happy with the new painting. No revisions required! And yes, she ‘Feels the heat’!
